Rush Street Neighborhood Grill opened June 24, 1980 as “The Chicago Dough Company.” It was the third Chicago Dough Company opened by Chicago natives Mike Feliu and Mike Rose. The first two locations are in Richton Park, Illinois (1976) and Bourbonnais, Illinois (1977). These were operated as traditional “Chicago Style” pizza and beer establishments and are still going strong today. In December 1989 the Kingsport location went through a major physical and menu renovation and evolved into Rush Street Neighborhood Grill.
Jerry Feliu began working for the original Chicago Dough Company as a high school senior. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1980 and soon moved to Kingsport to work as an assistant manager. In 1983 he became General manager.
In 1990 Jerry left us for seven years. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America as their top student in 1992. He returned to us in 1997 loaded with experience and new skills that have greatly enhanced the food quality at Rush Street Neighborhood Grill.
